Daveswordsofwisdom.com: Negative People Will Hold You Back

Daveswordsofwisdom.com: Negative People Will Hold You Back

Negative people will hold you back. They take the fun out of everything! So how do you lighten your load?
Asking them to quit being negative is often fruitless as is trying to avoid them.
Perhaps the best idea is to surround yourself with positive thinking people and the negative thinker will either fall into line and try to be more positive or go away and find someone who wants to hear their negativity.  Either way, just keep your loving positive channels open and life will bring you lots of great adventures and interesting friends.

Home Again After the International Porcelain Art Show

Hello everyone,

We had a wonderful time at the porcelain art show in San Francisco.  It was a coming together of artisans from all over the world.  Cheri Holder (USA)and Peter Faust(Switzerland) were the guest artists and were demonstrating many beautiful techniques in lusters and venetian lace. I would like to name every person there but suffice it to say that the best of the best were in attendance and so many countries were represented that it was difficult to keep track.

I was delighted to meet Sachi and Sally from Japan and to see Kay Hurn from Australia as we met formerly by internet and made this meeting an occasion to see each other in person. Didn't get to spend much time together but  these thing begin in small ways.

There were lots of highlights but my very favorite was the fashion show. On Friday night Cheri Holder and two friends modeled  costumes made out of porcelain by Nancy Bennedetti. It is impossible to describe the  genius that went into these pieces.  My mind boggles trying to think how they pulled this off. These garments belong in an art museum for all the world to see. I will try to post pictures of this event later. Meanwhile please enjoy the few I did find on my camera. I hope they inspire you.

Due to a snafu in entering  pictures from the show please continue to the next blog page. I hope to get the kinks out soon but these photos will inspire you.

On Saturday morning I gave a demo using en grisaille on fruit to get bright rich red and purple colors. I had 17 in attendance including Vicki Hand Hand and Mary Williams who agreed to be my assistants  which is way more than I expected considering this was scheduled on the morning of the last day when so many were trying to catch planes back to their home countries. I hope everyone learned something that morning.

After the show we pushed on to Canyon Lake, California to visit our son Peter and his family for a week then we slowly drug ourselves home. I thought of a million things to tell you about but then I realize that I cannot tell you everything all at once.  So I just hit the highlights. We are happy to be home with our pugs and the cat and relieved to be here in time to harvest the raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and tomatoes. Unlike southern California, it is mild and sweet weather up here in the northwest.....I miss our southern family but am pleased to be in the northwest .   It is  a full moon tonight so a new cycle is beginning.  Hope you are all in good health and weathering the summer well.
Until next time,
Goodnight
